No I did not find my pot of gold there,,,,hehe I spent a pot of gold though,,,,,,,,,,,lol not really they were having a wonderful sale, most every thing was 30% to 50% off,,, even the fabric dept. had 30% off their fabrics and ribbons,,,,,, I found some gorgeous ribbons and some other pretties, but will save that for another post…. This is about the beautiful fabrics I found for my next Baby Quilt…. Since you all know I made the Teddy Bear Quilt for Shelia’s daughter,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Well this one is for the Grandma to be… Now I think all Grandma’s should have a B-Quilt for the baby when they visit… to cuddle with.. and when the Baby is too big for the Quilt,,, she can use it on the wall or over a chair foot stool or table, what ever she chooses…
The fabrics I choose are for either a boy or girl not too cutesy, this way Shelia can use it in other ways….. I sure hope she likes what I picked out…. that is the most nervous part about choosing fabric’s,,, making sure they match the owners personality and decor, of the home… And Shelia of Note Songs, has the most glorious funny, sweet, caring, loving personality…. So I was looking forever trying to capture her spirit… I was lugging so many bolts of fabrics back and forth to make sure they go together,,, I had them stacked all over the cutting table….lol they were so nice to let me stack them there… Poor Honey,,, he left to shop a Kohl's, and left me to look and take my time….. great guy.. :0
Ok now I will show you what I finally picked. hope you all like it as well.
In case you all forgot this is the quilt pattern I am making… it won’t take as long as the other one, this is more strip piecing… but the fabrics shown are not the ones I picked out,,,, Shelia’s sweet daughter and son in law don’t want to know the sex,,,,, just like the olden days,, before ultra sound’s……
Here they are all lined up on my desk,, it was so hard to get them all in but I did get some close up’s to show you…. I tried to stick to a monochromatic color,, I love all the patterns they had..
Don’t you just love the olden Key’s….. I know that Shelia likes Toile so I was able to find some in the perfect shade…. then I spied the Celtic cross fabric,, love it………………
I have put the fabrics in sets that will be next to each other in the quilt,,, these represent the white prints, love the touch of blue in the floral print,, and the solid cream with another Toile print,,,, love it…….
These next two fabrics are for the inner and outer boarder’s,, I hope you can see the light Rose print,, it is so much more gorgeous then what it shows… you can click on it to make it larger to see it better… it is like a soft painting…. it matches so prefect with other fabrics..
The Rose print here has a touch of blue as well,, these are going to make a small block in the quilt, it takes the place of the green….. in the photo. if you look ever so close at the one on the right side you can see a rooster in the fabric…. now I know that Shelia loves rooster’s as well, so when I found this one, I thought it perfect for the quilt, it is not over powering either, and the Daisy fabric reminds me of Spring… (sigh)
And these two are for part of a block and the stripped one is for the binding,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, love this strip,, I wish they had lots more of it, it would make such gorgeous curtains….. it has a wonderfully soft sheen to it….perfect for a baby.. to snuggle against…. don’t ya think??????
Here they are in order so you can kind of see how they all look together,,, I had to take them in small shots could not get them all in the picture but it is easier to see how well the flow is between each one….
OK the two Toile’s are not going to be this close to each other in the quilt…… just so you know, did not notice this until after I took the photo and down loaded it….. oops..
Well friends,,, what do you all think of my choices??? did I do good???? hope so. Like I said this part of the possess makes me a nervous wreck. Tomorrow I will be doing the cutting of all of these pretties… getting them numbered and in order of sewing… I still have to find the backing for the quilt,, something really soft and just the perfect color…… I don’t usually use heavy pattern for the back,, maybe a plain one,, what do you think I should use???? I could use some help with this,,, pattern and color and type of fabric,,,, so please give me some ideas if you would….. That is why I love to blog,,,, there are so many talented ladies out there, and they are all so willing to help when needed, with ideas and just about any thing else one could need help with…..
Now I have been looking all over for the Flea Market Style magazine,,,,for about a week… I finally found it in Rock Hill,,, I was so excited when I spotted it… I have been reading it since last night,, and I am so loving each and every page…
I am so happy that there is a wonderful Mag. like this,, this is one of the best ever,,, and my new best friend…hehe. So a huge thank you to Ki and Matthew and the others for putting together such a wonderful Magazine.
Thank you all for taking the time to stop by and visit my humble blog….. your comments are so appreciated and so very welcome….. So until next time; God Bless;
Hugs;

I am in love with the fabric with the keys on it. I was just in Hobby Lobby, but didn't check out the fabrics. You have wonderful taste and I hope you show us the finished products. Perfect, just perfect, Char
You are a kind and generous lady to do this for Shelia, and I'm sure she's totally thrilled. What a gift! I love the neutrality of the different pieces, Alaura.
Hi, Alaura -
I love the fabrics you've chosen and I can't wait to see the finished quilt. What pattern are you using? I love the look of it. My daughter is expecting a girl in early May and I need to get busy on her quilt. I'd like to do something similar to this pattern. I have several patterns but just haven't settled on any of them. Thanks for sharing - it's so sweet to make this one for Shelia.

I sure wish I could quilt! My mom used to make the most gorgeous ones and I loved playing with the fabrics and sometimes, she'd let me chose the ones for the next quilt. Isn't it fun to pick out the coordinating colors and patterns?

Oh Alaura Sweetie...
I love this quilt pattern. My goodness is it ever going to be beautiful. I think a green backing would be wonderful, or even a gold. I don't know anything about quilting. I have done a few little lap printed projects and that is all. I am still trying to figure out how to knit a baby blanket for GrandBaby #8 that is coming first they said June, but the baby is getting pretty large, so they may have to take him sooner. Yes it is a grandson. We will have 4 girls and 4 boys. I have tried learning on my own, didn't do very good, and I have tried finding lessons, don't seem to be any classes right now. Anyway none that are close to me in Phoenix. Bummer I know. I am not sure what I am going to do, I so have my heart on a blanket for my little man, and the Baby Shower is April 10th. Wish me luck sweetie.
Now about my wonderful Monday. Seeing as how it made you giggle, I need to tell you the rest of the story. I hurried in to change my clothes, and ofcourse all of my accessories as they were laid off for my original outfit for the day. While DH was chuckling over the situation, I got the last laugh. He missed his bus, and guess what it was a good thing he has his umbrella, because guess who was standing in the rain at the bus stop? Yep DH. Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! I laughed all the way to work inside my WET, SOPPING WET truck. Yes I did.
Love ya girl. Country hugs, Sherry
GREAT fabrics for quilting!
You have some great fabric selections there! Your quilts are awesome, too! Wish I had the time right now to work on such things....sigh. Someday! Someday! I'd love to get a copy of the mag, too. Must look for it soon. Thanks for sharing!
Hello, Alaura,
I think you picked out some really pretty fabric that will be perfect for a boy or a girl. Shelia will love it, I am sure. I love Hobby Lobby, too, and can spend hours just looking. I bought a copy of the Flea Market magazine today plus the new Romantic Homes. I look forward to making a pot of coffee and reading them cover to cover. I hope you have a lovely week full of the promise of spring! Vicki
You look like you are having so much fun. I want that key fabric! And I have to get out to look for the magazine yet.
Your quilt is going to be really pretty!! My great aunt made me a quilt topper when we got married over 16 years ago and my grandmother just had it quilted for me the other day. I wish I had done it sooner. We put it on our bed and love it, it's so comfy! Thank you for your nice comments on my floral arrangements!! Kristen
Girl...I love them all. You KNOW Hobby Lobby is based in Oklahoma, right? We do things RIGHT here! :)
Love to you~Rebecca
I love all your fabrics too! Esp the one with the larger roses and the stripe for the border! It will turn out gorgeous! Just love your blog and now I need to find a copy of that magazine too!
